Žigan Krajnčan

Žigan Krajnčan was born on the 2nd of October 1995 in Kranj, Slovenia.
At the age of four he began attending violin lessons. Six years later he decided to switch to trombone, which he played for three years. He was also a member of three different youth choirs. Whilst he was attending primary school he acted, sing and danced in two musicals and a movie. The first musical- The Sound of Music had more than a hundred repetitions, he participated with well known Slovenian directors and actors such as Jurij Zrnec, Miha Hočevar, Uroš Smolej, Matjaž Pograjc...
When he finished his primary school education he decided to enroll in a gymnasium focused on contemporary dance. Even though he had very little dancing experience he passed the auditions. When he was in gymnasium he played the lead role in two musicals and had a supporting role in a play. He was attending singing lessons with Nina Strnad and Nataša Nahtigal. He was also actively participating in school productions and out of school projects (lead by: Ivan Mijačevič, Maja Delak, Matjaž Farič, Ivana Djilas, Kaja Janjič, Gašper Tič, Sinja Ožbolt, Gregor Luštek), commercials, Battles and street styles training.
While he was finishing the gymnasium, he was a choreographer of an interdisciplinary project Hidden Myth (connecting music, dance, poetry and visual art) with leader and his brother Kristijan Krajnčan and also performed in 3 musicals and short movie. After leaving the gymnasium he started working with Matija Ferlin, the project focused on the abstracted dancing body and the conventions of the theatrical. With production award that he won on OPUS 2015, he made his first project, a dance duet with Gašper Kunšek. In the summer he visited china as a student and learned traditional china dance and martial arts. When he came back to Slovenia he worked with Kaja Lorenci (“Just in appearance sometimes as everyone else”) and took interest in gestures and movement in teatre, so he was a movement advisor and choreographer of “Utopia” (Mala SNG Drama, September 2016) and “Merlin ali Pusta dežela” (SNG Drama, December 2016), and while he was working on this he produced another dance duet “Alien Express” again with Gašper Kunšek. The duet was selected on Aerowaives Twenty16 and was performed on Spring Forward festival (April 2017)
