The sleeper of the val

"From my memory, I glean this anecdote. Le Val is a village in the south of France where we had a small plot of land bordered by a stream. Reading for the first time the poem by Rimbaud, “Le dormeur du val,” I immediately visualize the place. Touched by the gentleness described, soothed by the happy rhymes, I do not see the climax coming. Then the last verse, cruel and terrible, floors me: "Tranquille. Il a 2 trous rouges au côté droit" (Peaceful. He has two red holes on his right side).
Mom rests in peace in Le Val.”

Kelemenis danced with Bagouet, frequented the international scene before coming back to Marseille where his creations dug in and took hold. The choreographer’s disturbing sensibility always surfaces in his writing and isn’t ashamed of its soulful fidelity to the neo-classical heritage. And he has fun with it, like with his Dormeuse du Val that borrows its nostalgic breath from Rimbaud, its bucolic inspiration fading into an intimate dream.
